COVID-19 Information Page

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed everyone’s day to day lives and the way that companies conduct business.  At MCD, we want to welcome back our dancers, but do so in a safe and responsible environment.  Here are the steps we are taking and policies that we are putting in place to ensure a safe return to the studio!

We will be offering in-person outdoor and online Zoom classes when the weather is undesirable if a student needs to stay home. Families will have the option of in-person outdoor classes with groups of no more than 12 dancers per class, or online through Zoom. Being a small studio we feel it is safe for us to hold small size classes in-person. We have been holding in-person outdoor classes since August with no Covid positivity. Enrollment will remain open until 2 weeks after classes have begun. If a “Shelter in Place” order is reinstated, all classes will be held via Zoom.

If a “Shelter in Place” order is reinstated, classes will be held via Zoom. Per our policy MCD will not offer refunds for tuition.

Safety Protocols and Procedures

The State of California requires all businesses to:

1. Perform a detailed risk assessment and implement a site-specific protection plan (SPP)

2. Train staff on how to limit the spread of COVID-19, including how to screen themselves for symptoms and stay home if they have them.

3. Implement individual control measures.

4. Implement disinfecting protocols.

5. Implement physical distancing guidelines.

Studio Cleaning and Disinfecting Protocols

  • Thorough cleaning in high traffic areas (reception area and dancer bathroom) will be performed regularly. Commonly used surfaces will be frequently disinfected.
  •  Between classes all barres and equipment will be sanitized.
  • When classes transition dancers will be asked to remain outside if the reception area is crowded.
  •  All doors to the outside will remain open at all times if the weather permits, to aid in air turnover.
  • All barres, Pilates equipment, and touchable surfaces are cleaned and sanitized between each use. We will be assigning dancers a spot at the barre for the session and asking dancers to wipe down their space and any equipment they use for Pilates after each use.
  • Entrances and exits, and points of sale are equipped with proper sanitation products, including touchless hand sanitizers and sanitizing wipes.
  • Bathrooms will be stocked with soap and touchless soap dispensers and paper towels at all times. We have tissues, no-touch trash cans in the bathrooms and reception area, hand soap, alcohol-based hand sanitizers, and disinfectants. We have equipped the studio entrance with a touchless hand sanitizer stand. We ask that everyone remove street shoes when entering the reception area and hand sanitizes right away. Hands-free devices have been placed in the studio, as well as contact-less Apple pay payment systems.
  •  We will also be using Hepa / UV Air Filters from "Germ Guardian" during indoor classes.

Physical Distancing Guidelines

  • Class sizes will be kept to a minimum to ensure for safe distancing.
  •  Face coverings are required when staff and dancers are in the studio and outside. We are asking that dancers wear masks with filters, not cloth masks alone, teachers will do the same. Dancers are welcome to wear face shields if they like.
  •   Tape has been placed at six feet apart at barres and on the dance floor to maintain 6 ft. distance and to properly outline the range to be observed.
  •  Dancers will be required to wear masks during class. If dancers need a break from their masks, they are welcome to step outside into the rear parking lot from the studio back doors to do so in between combinations, when class returns to indoors. Dancers will be advised on how to remove their masks safely and hand sanitize after reentering the studio. Touch less hand sanitizers will be available at the back door, the reception desk, and the front door, as well as outside. Dancers must hand sanitize prior to entering the back parking lot prior to class.
  •  Dancers should bring water bottle large enough for their day. We are discontinuing the usage of the water dispenser during this time.

Before Coming to the Studio

  • Do not come to the studio if you are not feeling well or have a fever.
  • To minimize common area usage, we are asking that all students fully dress in their  uniforms before coming to the school. The dancer should still wear street shoes into the studio or outdoors where they will switch into their dance shoes.
  • Don’t forget to bring your mask/face-covering
  • It is very important for students to stay home whenever they are not feeling well.  To help ensure that there is no incentive to try to make it to class when under the weather, we are waiving our limit of 4 make-up classes per semester. We will be broadcasting all classes on Zoom and make-ups will be available via Zoom or in-person.
  • If your dancer exhibits symptoms of Covid-19 or has been in contact with someone positive please email the Director right away, and in good conscience please have your dancer tested and relay the results by email.

Arriving at the Studio

  • (Indoor) Dancers should approach the front door wearing their mask/face-covering and form a line, we will have socially distanced markings on the ground. Dancers will be admitted into the studio after the prior class exits. Please do not leave your child unattended if they are in Level 1, Level 1A, Level 1B prior to entering the studio.
  • (Outdoor) Dancers should line up on the social distanced markings on the ground wearing their mask/face-covering. Dancers will be admitted into the back parking lot after the prior class exits. Please do not leave your child unattended if they are in Level 1, Level 1A, Level 1B prior to your child entering.
  • Ms. Leilani will have all dancers hand sanitize to clean their hands prior to entering the studio / parking lot using our touchless hand sanitizer. Please do not leave the premises until your child has been admitted into class.
  • (Indoor) Only dancers should enter the building at class time.  If a parent needs to contact the school, your first option should be email or phone. Should you need to enter the building for any reason, you should wait until all students have entered the building and then approach the door.  You will need to hand-sanitize with the touch less hand sanitizer in the same fashion as the students before entering. There will be no use of the common areas for waiting, all parents must wait in their vehicles if desiring to stay on premises.
  • (Outdoor) Staff will be available for questions outside before and after classes.
  • Upon entering the studio students should proceed directly into the studio where the teacher will assign a place to be used for the duration of the class.. Outdoors students will be assigned a space to stand.
  • Levels 2A- 5 will be required to adhere to the same protocols.

After Class and Pick-up

  • Now more than ever it is important for parents to be on time for pickup.  Students will be released from class allowed to put on their street shoes and then exit the building or back parking lot to wait for their parents. Please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to the end of classes. We do not have the staff to attend to dancers after they are let out of their class.
  • We have scheduled 5 minutes between each class to allow for a thorough cleaning of the studio / outdoor barres and space between each class.  All surfaces will be wiped down between classes including the floors before any class that requires non-foot floor contact.
